Wellspring Founder, Lead Coach, Recovering Pleaser

Born and raised in the Lowcountry, Kate Hendley glided onto the ice as a competitive figure skater for nearly a decade before trading her skates for sneakers as a track and cross country athlete.
Immersed in solo sports and mourning her parents’ divorce, Kate developed a consuming drive for success and self-induced demand for perfection that she would carry with her to college. While at East Carolina in Charlotte, NC, her mom was diagnosed with cancer - already chasing impossible standards, she careened into hyperdrive on training, studying, performing and, ultimately, fighting for control.
It all came to a head in 2012 with an eating disorder that landed her in the hospital for 30 days followed by months of in-patient rehab. Through redirection and introspection, Kate did a hard reset on who she wanted to become - making the choice to start healing herself mind, body and soul.
Coming back to her Charleston roots, Kate graduated from the College of Charleston with a Communications Degree and tried her hand at hospitality with Wild Dunes Resort. Innately curious by nature and motivated for more, Kate went on a professional walkabout researching and interviewing anyone willing to talk with her.
Taking a step in a better direction, she transitioned into the health and fitness space joining the HYLO Mount Pleasant team in 2019. As HYLO’s Director of Experience, Kate found her calling to serve others by helping them find balance and curate healthy lifestyles. Becoming a human sponge, she set out to learn anything and everything from thought-leaders in the local health and wellness space, which ultimately led her to Rhapsody Fitness where she now serves as the in-house Nutrition Coach and Member Services Manager.
Ready to make and ride her own waves, Kate enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s (IIN) Accelerated Program securing her INHC Certification and completing her Intensive Coaching Practicum in 2021. Not with a fizzle, but with a bang, she became a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach and founded Wellspring by May 2022.
For Kate, this is personal. Vehemently against one-size-fits-all anything, toxic “fad fitness”, scale shame, and reducing humans to numbers or food groups, she leads with empathy and focuses on empowering you to know what your body needs, understanding the why behind your cravings and encouraging you to pursue your best life - those big, beautiful goals both on and off your plate.
All about meeting you where you are, Kate prides herself on being courageously vulnerable and keeping it real - creating and holding a judgment-free space for you to develop a positive relationship with food, learn to love your body and find your way to intuitive health and happiness.
When Kate isn’t getting acquainted with the barbell, you may find her busting a move, wandering the great outdoors, exploring new sights or whipping up something wondrous with oatmeal (food truck plans pending).
